Signature Authority

HR Liaisons

Signature authority is the identification of employees in each department who have been designated to make department-level, HR-related decisions for a specific employee group.

Human Resource Services uses this list to verify the approvers of HR actions and other documents.

To establish signature authority, complete the HR System Access and Signature Authority Request form. pdf icon It must be signed by:

  1. The employee
  2. A previously authorized signer for the department
  3. If requesting signature authority for faculty or admin professionals, the Vice President or Provost for your division.

Additionally, the Access Request form must must grant the employee read/write access to the HR System.

Signature authority is not required for supervisors approving hours worked by hourly employees.
